Halloween

Because I am so far behind in my blogging, I am attempting to do one big long blog post for the Halloween season.  So, you have been fairly warned.

We started the week of Halloween with getting a couple of pumpkins.  The kids wanted to carve their own pumpkins this year, which was fine with me. I helped them just a little getting started but they picked their own designs and punched out the pattern and carved them all by themselves after I carved the lids.  They had perserverance and they turned out really good.
Justin made a dragon and Jennifer made a bat.

Halloween fell on a Sunday this year.  So, our church had their Fall Festival on Saturday afternoon. We had beautiful weather and large crowds. Our SS class did the reverse apple bobbing again this year. Everyone has a great time laughing at one another and it makes for some very cute pictures.
Justin cheated by using his shoulder.
For Halloween this year, Justin dressed up like a Roman soldier.  He had a lot of fun playing with the big sword.  Jennifer dressed up like a Broadway dancer. She looked very beautiful, of course!
Curt Meininger tries for an apple.  We also had our friends the Straights come see us:
It was fun to watch the little ones (And big ones!!) try so hard to bite the apples.

We also ran into our friends from soccer there. These are two good friends of Jennifer's racing against each other.
Deanna also went with us and helped dish out the candy to those who were successful and those who tried.

Logan enjoyed turning the sword on Justin.

After the Fall Festival, we went to dinner at Chick-fil-a and took the kid's to their very first haunted house.  Justin had asked to go to one this year, and we thought it might be time to give him a good scare :)  We headed to a local chiropractors office that had turned the office into a haunted house.  It really wasn't that scary, but each kid got scared one good time.  It was really so foggy that you couldn't see anything.  It was a decent one for the first time.

On Sunday evening, we went over to the Hill's for dinner (pizza) and then all got in the car to go to the Palmer's neighborhood to join a big group of kids to trick or treat with. Jessica was a doctor. Jordan was a pirate. And Jaclyn was Jessica's patient who had a leg that was cut off. Since she is still in her wheelchair recuperating from the last surgery, her Dad was such a sport to trick or treat for her.

Here, Mr.Steve is pretending to dump the whole bowl of candy into her bag.
Jennifer and Jordan joined Courtney, Hannah Leigh, and Mackenzie St Romaine and a few others for the fun.
Justin joined Brandon and some other boys for the fun.

We walked around the whole neighborhood and the kids got lots of candy.  One house that we went to was called the Halloween house. I had never seen anything like that at all.  There was so much Halloween stuff that the whole yard was covered.  This is just one section of it.  They also decorated the garage into a little walk through haunted house.  The also had a bunch of Halloween food and punch.
When the men went back to get the vans, Mrs. Tina took over getting candy for Jackie.  She skipped from house to house and had the little girls running to keep up with her.

The kids got a bunch of candy, and even sorted it into neat little stacks of each kind on the bar. Why can't they be that way in the playroom with the toys??

These are our neighbors. They really enjoy decorating for Halloween also. Rita and Louis have so much fun on Halloween.
