We are in the throes of housebreaking while at the same time busy with life in general and Christmas festivities on top of everything else. I will blog soon, though I promise. Tonight, we are going to attempt to do our Christmas picture, complete with a fire in the back ground, 2 smiling kids, 2 content cats, and 1 rambunctious puppy. That is the plan anyways. Please pray for us!! I'll keep you posted.

Jennifer's first band concert
Tonight was Jennifer's first band concert. She plays the clarinet and was third chair clarinet tonight. There is over 200 6th graders in the band this year, so there was 2 concerts. They started by showing us what they sounded like in the beginning of the year. Let's just say, they have come a long way in such a short time. They all did a great job by finishing with some Christmas music. We are very proud of Jennifer!

Well, Christmas has come early to the Jones Household. We are officially parents (or grandparents) again. The puppies were weaned and ready to go to their new homes, so Dale went and got the puppy while I went shopping for all the puppy supplies that we would need. The kids knew we had been talking about getting the puppy A LOT lately, but they also knew the puppy wouldn't be ready to be picked up until Dec 12th. So, we got to surprise them today. Justin unwrapped all the supplies and then went to the car to get him. We surprised Jennifer after she got home from school.
He is so cute and the kids just love him. NOW, let the training begin!!!

Thanksgiving break
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to blog over the Thanksgiving break, but hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I woke up on Thanksgiving morning very thankful for so many blessings that God has granted me. However, I was sick all day Wednesday and Thursday. Luckily, Dale and the kids were still able to join my family for lunch and dinner on Thanksgiving. It was certainly not my best Thanksgiving, but I was still counting my blessings. My Thanksgiving meal consisted of 5 goldfish crackers late in the day-not what I had planned!
On the day before Thanksgiving, I was in bed all day but could hear Justin playing in the hallway. Justin is my kid who loves to stay home and it is when he is playing like this that I love for him to be home. He worked really hard to make a putt-putt course. He set up a front desk where you paid for the putt-putt and then you got your ball and putter and headed to the course. You could choose men's tees or kid's tees. As soon as Dale got home that day, I heard him going to Justin's room where he proceeded to ask for $5 to play golf. By the end of the day, I think the price had dropped to 25 cents a hole and you could choose how many holes to play. Justin would change the course and tell you what par was for each hole. The "long Par 5" went from the top of the stairs to the family room. He used all kinds of items to make the course. And it had all kinds of obstacles like real putt-putt. It was really neat!
He even had a tip jar!! He thought of everything.
Then the day after Thanksgiving, I was feeling better and we ALL went shopping for the Black Friday sales for the first time. Normally, I go all by myself and get up and out and home about the time everyone is waking up. Last year, the kids spent the night with Mom, so Dale went with me. This year, everyone wanted to go. We didn't get out too early (Around 9 am) but still got most everything I wanted. We enjoyed lunch out(it was good to eat again finally!) and then headed home. Justin headed straight to his room where he worked hard to find some things to sell and had his own after Thanksgiving sale in his room. Nana and Uncle Doug came over that afternoon, so we all got to go "shopping" again. When you entered his store, you received a coupon for one thing free and a security pass. Then when you purchased something, you received a paid stamp to show that you had paid for it. Again, thinking of everything.
This is the sign he had on his door which could be flipped to show closed. It also served to tell everyone about the I-dog dance that happened right on schedule at 4:00 pm.
These are the items for sale in his store. When I told him I was shopping for my 9 year old son and asked him if he would like a particular item, he shrugged his shoulders and said "That's why I'm selling the stuff." That made us all laugh!! The next picture shows the dartboard where you could pay to play.
I ended up spending 50 cents, I believe by buying a small toy and getting some of Justin's artwork for free. Nana spent $2.00 on some really pretty rocks. I can't remember what Daddy bought, but he never used his free coupon. So, later in the day Justin exclaimed that he was having a clearance sale and wanted people to come back and shop. I was out of money from all my shopping that day, but enjoyed his store and the sales that it had. I LOVE when my kids can just be kids and play like this. But then again, I just LOVE my kids!!

The kids had a great Thanksgiving break which consisted of 10 days out of school. Jennifer was counting the days that they had to go to school until the Christmas break and came up with 3 weeks of school. So, she decided that she would wish for a 3 week blizzard to keep them home for the 3 weeks and then it would be time for Christmas break. Hmm....well the Monday they had to go back to school, there were a few flurries spotted while she was on the bus on the way to school. Then a few throughout the cold day. As Justin walked home after school, he spotted a couple of flakes and tried to catch one on his tongue. He was moving around the yard trying to catch the few that were there. The next morning, both kids were so excited to see that it had "snowed" during the night. Jennifer had enough time and daylight to go play in the "snow" before school on Tuesday morning. Here is a picture of our early snowstorm. 
She tried to make a snowball and throw it but it just disintegrated. Hopefully, we will get a good snow this year as it has been so long since we had a "real" snow.

A taste of Heaven-for puppies and Bill Elliot fans
On the way home, we stopped in Dawsonville at the pool hall where Bill Elliott fans gather to watch races. The food was fine, but the place was heaven for an Elliot fan. They had floor to ceiling newspaper articles in the bathrooms on each and every wall. I tried to get a picture of Jennifer but she wouldn't let me take her picture in the bathroom. :) Dale and Justin are big Elliot fans, so it was a special time for them.
My favorite part was that they had one of my favorite video games as a teenager, Galaga, for free. So, I played a while and did pretty good, I might add. Then the kids got to give it a try. 
We got home late but had a good day. We'll keep you posted on whether we will be making another trip soon. Puppies are ready for pickup in 10 days!!
