Our friends Steve and Dana wanted us to join them for a week's cruise but Bill was going to be having surgery and we just couldn't ask Mom to keep the kids while he was in the hospital-how callous would that be?!? So, we had told them no we couldn't go. But then, I found a GREAT deal on the Norwegian Sun with a balcony that was a 3 day cruise to Great Stirrup Cay(their private island) and to Nassau. We figured we could ask Dale's Mom to keep the kids for 3-4 days. She had never kept them that long before, ut we had confidence that she and the kids would be fine. They are old enough to help out and not be a problem. They just mainly needed transportation. We asked her -she said yes.
So, we set out to Floriday and spent the night in Titusville where we ate a steak restaurant next to the hotel. Then we got on the ship as soon as we could. This is the same ship we were on in April, so we were already familiar with it. It is normally a 7 day cruise but it was coming back from Europe, so it was only a 3 day cruise.
We really didn't do too much this cruise, except relax. As a matter of fact, I took a record LOW number of pictures. We weren't able to go to the private island (which is right next to RCI's Coco Cay) due to rough seas. In Nassau, we got off and went to the straw market looking for a wooden cross but never found one like we wanted.
Dale did see the stabilizer bars in the water during this cruise. He thought that was really cool. And It was really weird to think that our cruising friends were on a cruise at the same time - just not with us. We spent some time on the phone on the way home comparing notes about our cruise experience and laughing at some of the things. It was neat to be traveling home all relaxed on the same day and be able to share some laughs.
