This Halloween was really weird for us. Neither kid really wanted to dress up. Our Fall Festival at church was done at 6 pm. Normally, we rush home to get a little trick or treating. This year we had plenty of time. And the time changed on Halloween, so we actually had an extra hour. It also rained a little during the evening. We carved a cat in our pumpkin this year and the kids did the hole punching part themselves. You may not be able to tell but Justin is dressed in his outfit above. This was actually a Halloween party the weekend before but the only "thing/person" that he wanted to be this year was "John Hancock". So, please notice the feather in the hat. Please also note the Declaration of Independence in the side pocket of his jeans along with a pen in case anyone asked him for his "JOHN HANCOCK". :) Jennifer didn't have any desire to go trick or treating this year. So, Justin (AKA JOHN) and I went trick-or-treating in the neighborhood while Jennifer and Daddy stayed behind to give candy out. The first 6 houses that we went to all asked where Jennifer was. Justin told them that she was too old. Most of them were sad. Some gave him candy to give to her. It was sweet! But when we were about 2/3 of the way through, here came Jennifer. Daddy told her to watch football with him or go trick-or treating so she came out to us. We just happened to be at the neighbor's house that LOVES Halloween and still dresses up themselves in their 60's-I mean ALL OUT!! So, they asked her why she wasn't trickor treating and she tried to explain that she was too old. And they were taken aback. What about them? They are 60 something years old and they are all dressed up with the house all decorated and the fog machine on and the scary music playing. I hope she didn't insult them. :) But they called her up to the door and gave her some candy. She then ran back home for her pumpkin and went to the rest of the houses with Justin. So, this was her loot and this was his loot:. Growing up just about stinks, doesn't it??
Poor thing had heard about my trick-or-treating with my 2 best friends when we were in 7th grade. We went up to a door (and we were dressed up!!) ,rang the doorbell, and held out our pumpkins. We were totally innocent when we said trick-or-treat to the lady that opened the door. She looked shocked and asked us if we were trick-or-treating for candy or BEER!! I remember thinking maybe we were too old for this anymore, but couldn't believe that ANYONE would choose beer over candy!!
