Last weekend, for the FIRST time, our family went in three separate directions for the weekend. I'm sure that will happen more and more as the kids get older but this was a first for us. Dale and Justin stayed home this weekend and Justin had his first soccer game of the season. They lost, but Justin scored a goal and a friend from church (Brayden) scored another goal. Then Dad took Justin for a blizzard to celebrate.Dale kept the painting going. He went all the way up to the top of our 2 story foyer with the rolling part. We can't wait to get this huge job done!!
But the highlight of their weekend was going to Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday for the NASCAR race. They left early and went to Waffle House for breakfast and then headed down to the track. Dale took Justin by his "old stompin grounds" and showed Justin where he grew up and played and went to school, and where his house used to be. Then they headed for the track.
My Dad had gotten them 2 tickets and it was a beautiful day for a race!! Justin isn't old enough to go into the pit area, but he was able to see it from a distance. They took ear plugs but didn't wear them (goofballs!). It must not have been as loud as it was the last time I went down there. :) They also took the binoculars and did use those. They were glad they had brought them. And they did take a couple of pictures for me this time-yeah!
They left with about 12 laps to go so they wouldn't get stuck in traffic with the other 100,000 people down there.
They had a great time and Justin thought his first race was "AWESOME!!".
