New Years Eve

We started out with an early dinner with our friends (Hills and Koehlers).  They were kind enough to join us for our annual tradition of Outback on New Year's Eve. Normally, we order takeout and bring it home and eat it, but since there would be 13 of us this year, we decided to go to the restaurant.  We had a slow, relaxed dinner with our friends. Although the restaurant was packed when we got there, we were able to walk right in as we had called ahead and they had our 2 tables set up and waiting for us.

After dinner, we headed down to the Gowder's house for a NY eve party. The Koehlers went along as well, and we enjoyed the company.  We were all so stuffed it was hard to eat anything, but Mrs. Lisa is the BEST cook and always makes yummy things to eat. So by the end of the evening, we were able to sample some of her good snacks.

I didn't take any pictures this evening, but wanted to blog about it so we could remember it.  The boys had fun chasing each other around wiht the Nerf guns. The girls enjoyed hanging out. The men watched sports. And the ladies just chatted, and worked a little on their puzzle.

Midnight really snuck up on us. The Gowders had bought sparkling apple cider for the occasion. And we knew we needed to wash the goblets that we were going to use.  But, we weren't watching the time. By the time, I looked up to see what was on TV and saw the ball and the time, I yelled "we've only got 3 minutes!". That prompted everyone into action.  We were washing and pouring and trying to hand out glasses to everyone, and we had to just pour a little juice in each one in order to have them in time for the countdown.  It was pretty funny!! But we had a great evening with friends and hope to spend much more time with friends and family in 2011!!
