My favorite week!!

The week between Christmas and New Years is probably my favorite week of the year, not counting vacations. The reason is simple...because we don't have anything we have to do. There are no activities, events, school, etc. We normally don't go anywhere for the most part. We have several pajama days (which we all love!). I don't clean(for the most part), don't normally work(although did a little this year) and we just rest and play with our new toys. The rule in our house is that the new toys can stay down in the formal living room and I don't worry about them for that week. We play games, we read books, we play with our new toys, we do puzzles, we play the Wii and now the DS, watch movies and all the other fun stuff that we don't normally have a lot of time for. It is a vacation at home for us. This year was a little unusual in the fact that I was sick(with a bad cough) and that we had Jake, so there were no pajama days as we were walking the puppy all the time. To add to our list of fun activities this year was teaching Jake to go up (and then down) the stairs so we don't have to keep picking him up. He has finally conquered that with mastering the steps last week-yeah for Jake!! Yeah for us!!
Both kids are reading a set of books called the Warriors which they are really enjoying. Jennifer has read all of them and requested the latest new release but didn't get it, so she bought it with her Christmas money. Justin is on the first book, but just finished it last week. That is a big deal for him because he says "It's a 6th grade book." I am so proud of him for finishing the book. He often tries to read Jennifer's books but has never finished one before now. He is on the second one now.

This last picture is a picture of my Christmas Cactus which actually bloomed for the first time...on Christmas. It blooms every year (and has grown, believe it or not!!) but usually not at Christmas. So I was very pleased. I have no green thumb at all but the plant did what it was supposed to!
I love this week every year!!
