Jennifer's Birthday party-13 years old!

Well, its official. I have a teenager.

Jennifer had her 13th birthday party on her birthday this year. Our schools were out for President's Day on her birthday so we were able to actually have her sleepover on Sunday night into Monday morning this year.

There was much debate in our house this year over whether 13 year olds still have slumber parties. In the past, she has been able to invite 1 child for each year of age. For example, 12 years old=12 girls. Needless to say, this had to have a limit somewhere and I thought 12 should be about max.

Jennifer finally argued for just having a few friends spend the night-it won't even be a slumber party. We went back and forth on how many a "few" was and finally I told her that she could have 5 friends over. She wanted more of course, but 6 (total) ended up being a great number. They could all eat at the table with no problem. They could all sleep in a bed with no problem. And they weren't all wild and crazy.

This ended up being the easiest party ever. I let Jennifer set the times for drop-off and pickup for the first time. She decided to begin at 5 pm and end at 11 am. After everyone arrived, they went and jumped on the trampoline and played games out there until dinner was ready. We ate tacos or nachos, so it was really easy. Then they played some games (without any help or planning on my part). They watched a Disney show that premiered that night, so all was quiet and peaceful for 2 hours while all eyes were glued to the TV. I actually went upstairs and watched some TV myself. I will tell you that THAT has never happened before during a birthday party. After that, we had cookie cake and ice cream. Then they just hung out with all their electronic devices. Ipods, Itouchs, Iphones, and cell phones galore! Jennifer opened her gifts a little before midnight and then everyone was in bed by 12:30. I never heard another peep out of them and got a good night's sleep.

Justin slept on a pallet in our room and 3 girls slept in Justin's room and 3 girls slept in Jennifer's room. They got up at different times in the morning. Chelsea had to leave early so she was gone before I got up. Courtney and Sarah slept really late. Jennifer had chosen french toast for breakfast so that's what we had along with bacon. They played Wii in the morning and enjoyed hanging out until their parents picked them up.

Overall, Jennifer had a great time with her friends and it was by far the easiest party of all time. I think I could get used to parties like this!! :)

One of the girls got Jennifer a snuggie! That is why she has it on in every picture!!
